white & serene

I decided to stick with cottages today. This one is on Fire Island, NY, and belongs to Alex Bates, the creative director of west elm (could someone please phone them and ask them to open a shop in Europe a.s.a.p.). Again we have the colour white but now with some blue shades. The living room looks serene; I can easily picture myself reading a book with the fire burning. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love the vintage look of the kitchen – the light blue Martha Stewart latte bowls in that cupboard, mon dieu! And I really like the oversized chess pieces out on the deck. Please click on the link below to view more of the beautiful photos by William Waldron.

  1. Love the kitchen! THere is something in me that wants blue shades or objects in a white kitchen... its just so beautiful! It reminds me grandmas kitchen in Greece. I can almost smell all the goodies made there just by looking at those pictures ; )

  4. The image of the deck somehow reminds me of my summer vacations. And the fireplace is the one thing I would simply have to have if I were to live in a house instead of an apartment. Beautiful home! :)

  6. You sure know well how to pick out loveable cottages. This one looks beautiful and so relaxing. I love the vanished blue kitchen table and the over sized chess pieces. Can't wait to have my own fireplace soon;)

  8. I'm generally not a fan of pure white decor...but this is so serene, and the touches of blue add the color I crave.

  12. Nákvæmlega...opna búð( með vefverslun) í Evrópu, var einmitt að skoða vefverslunina þeirra um daginn, maður getur ekki einu sinni verslað frá Ameríku(til Íslands) nema eftir krókaleiðum:-(
