I have a big crush on the blue colour on the walls in Carrie Bradshaw's apartment, as it appears in the first SATC film and the sequel. The set decorator was Lydia Marks and I think she did an amazing job. I recently watched the film again and found myself replaying the baby shower scene and the ones following simply to take in the design. That wall colour is so beautiful with white and the tones of the rugs fit perfectly. The rug in Carrie's wardrobe is the Margherita rug by Marni from the Rug Company and the one on the bedroom floor is the Overleaf, also by Marni. And don't get me started on all the gorgeous lamps!
Are you guys like me, do you sometimes find yourself being more occupied with the mise en scène of a film than the actual plot?

yes! there are certain films where i can recall loving the interior. there's one with Diane Keaton in a house on the beach (not the film with Nicolson) and I love the interior but have forgotten which film it is!
ReplyDeleteI have a blue wall in my bedroom- not unlike this one.
ReplyDeleteLove the blue. Its bold to paint a whole room in such a color. The appartement I am renting has bold colors on the wall of both bedrooms. Teal and blue almost like Carries room. Hope I will be able to make the room smashing....!
ReplyDeleteI am up to my neck in packing here....
I just resently started beeing more occupied with the interior in films. :)
I have to say the same as Monica: I watched Somethings Gotta Give several times, closely watching that fabulous beach house interior. As to SJP's house in SATC movie, it looked so great. But somehow to me it didn't felt like Carrie Bradshaw's style to me. I also pay attention to the interiors in Gossip Girl;)
ReplyDeleteOh man, am I ever. My sister does is the same way. I remember back when they were showing the North and South mini-series in Sweden (Patrick Swayze) and my sister had me writing whoever to find out about the wallpaper in one of the houses lol. I don't think she ever heard back.
ReplyDeleteLove that blue anyway! Just yummy!
uuuuu i love that blue!
ReplyDelete:)
I´ve found a similar color called Þingvallablátt that I can´t wait to use in my boys room!
ReplyDeleteBut yes, I watch Amelie for the decor and mood, and love watching the opening of the Fellowship of the ring, just to imagine myself living in Bag end;) Ah.Yes, and I must shamefully admit to wanting to live in those Nora Ephron New York/Meg Ryan movies like You´ve got mail...(*Blushes...)

Lovely blue, my favorite color. Watch the film KIKA if you want to study bold usage of colors in scenes, very colorful :)
ReplyDeleteYes! Sometimes I get so distracted by the clothes, food, decor in a movie or TV show that I totally zone out on the plot. Glad I'm not the only one!
ReplyDeleteyes! i love to see movies backrounds!!
ReplyDeleteI loved it too! So funny because I just watched it again a few weeks ago and thought the same exact thing :)
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a wonderful week! xoxo
very pretty blue - but dare I say...I liked her apartment before it was redone. I felt more homey...this style is too much for me :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I'm so captivated by the interiors sometimes that I'm missing the plot. This happened with Something's Gotta Give and It's Complicated, both set designed by Beth Rubino. I loved Carrie's apartment in the SATC film too (was just thinking of seeing the sequel again), the blue of the walls is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm all about the visual, so I can get totally lost in looking at interiors in movies !
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures behind her bed ♥
Ohh yes - isn't that a women thing ? ;o))
ReplyDeleteI love the walk in closet - wish we had the space for one ;o)
Nice day to you ;o)
Like a number of the other readers comments above, I spent quite a bit of time studying the interiors of Something's Got to Give..just classically beautiful..
ReplyDeleteI am certainly with you Lisa, I am often distracted by the wardrobe and interiors, in particular French/Italian fims....who needs a plot sometimes!! I am sure my husband appreciates the nudge to point out some beautiful bag/dress or other immaterial detail to the movie!
yes!.....I usually study the interiors in the films. I love Carrie´s apartment sapecially all the pictures on the bedroom wall.....it is wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteOther film I "study the decoration" was "The Holiday" with Cameron Díaz and kate Winslet....I love this film!!
i really miss this show... her apartment version one and two were fantastic!!!
