relaxing mood

Let me start by thanking you for all the wonderful birthday greetings yesterday, they really touched my heart. Today I'm feeling the relaxing mood in these photos. It's my plan to do absolutely nothing, just relax on the balcony (if only I had a garden!) with my latte and all my new books, and smelling my new French soaps; heavenly Marseille soaps.

Yesterday's sushi plans changed. I'm the only one in this home who eats sushi so we were going to buy my favourite pieces and hubby was going to cook for the others. But instead he took us to Melkerij, a restaurant in the Nightingale Park, where we enjoyed mussels in a garlic white wine sauce and drank white wine. It's one of my favourite dishes; they serve it in a large black enamel pot with celery and onion too, with French Belgian fries on the side. It's divine!

The mailman delivered on my birthday, two books. One is called The Sweet Life in Paris by David Lebovitz, who has a fabulous website (oh how well my friend Sigrun in London knows me!). The other is a brand new book, Iceland Landscapes, by nature photographer Daniel Bergmann. Daniel is a friend of ours and the book was a gift for hubby and me and just happened to arrive on my birthday. It's breathtaking; it'll help me to stay connected with my roots in Iceland.

I'm off to the kitchen to cut a delicious pineapple for the children and me. The sun will appear on the balcony in a few minutes. Enjoy your day!

  2. Lisa, Happy Belated Birthday! My excuse is that I'm Armenian and we do everything late ;) It sounds like you had an amazing day, and have some pretty amazing reading material to keep you entranced during your lazy day. Wishing you lots of love, happiness, adventures, good health and many more lazy days of pure enjoyment. xx

  3. Such pretty images :) I am going through a greengate phase I think and I am swooning over just about everything they make!

And sounds like you had a great bday, I am glad! Are Belgian fries anything like Dutch fries? Cause if they are they are AWESOME! :)

    Hugs,

Enjoy your balcony, books and latte. I love that you have a new book which goes back to your roots. That really is something special to enjoy.
