antwerp streets in autumn

I used to be an autumn girl but then I moved to the European continent and the cherry trees stole my heart and a spring girl was born. It took me some time to get into the autumn rhythm this year but now I'm totally there. Antwerp is so beautiful right now; the yellow leaves in some streets are breathtaking. I took these photos yesterday when picking up the kids at school (if only it had been a bit brighter outside). In the morning, when we were bicycling to school and entered the street, we all stopped, looked at it in awe and said: "Wow!" It was almost like entering another world; it was incredibly beautiful in the morning light and there was a thick layer of leaves on the street and pavements.

The photo of the biscotti is only there to torture you. I can't help it, it's the evil part of my heart that posted it and I haven't figured out how to tame it! These are the ones with the dried cranberries and they are so good. I'm trying to press my friend (Cafe)Sigrun to post the recipe on her website (will you help me?). The recipe also contains macadamia nuts but I made these with almonds, as I didn't have the nuts. I baked some more this morning because I'm hooked.

I hope you are enjoying a beautiful day!

  3. Aww, you live in such a beautiful place!! I only enjoy parked cars and ungly tall buildings outside my apartment (and no trees or any green whatsoever) Sometimes I thing us Greeks are really stupid and worth of what is happening to us... *sigh*
P.S. I did a rice pudding yesterday after all! But I did an experimental recipe and added some apples in it and loads of cinnamon. It turned out pretty interesting but still needs many more tries to perfect it (hooray, winter is ahead and xmas around the corner!!!) xoxo

  14. Beautiful photographs! I am just waiting for that coconut oil I ordered to arrive and then I'll be making your biscotti for myself....and I'll post LOTS of photos *evil laugh*

I love the look of autumn but the SMELL of spring is just magnificent.

I also have a thing for European license plates. so much more visually pleasing than american ones.

It is dark, gloomy and rainy here in chicago...which would be perfect if I could curl up on the sofa and watch Sex and the City....but that is definitely not the case.

Wishing you some sunshine, too...those streets do look a bit dark.
