Yesterday I turned off the computer and took the kids to the Nightingale Park. They finish school early on Wednesdays and the girls needed leaves for a school project today. While they were collecting the leaves I was playing with my camera, getting lost in the moment. As you can see from the photos the Park looked beautiful. The autumn colours are in their element right now and we are enjoying beautiful weather. We were dressed in warm clothes, in sweaters underneath our coats, and when I saw people jogging in the Park in their shorts I thought to myself that maybe we haven't adjusted to the fact that we're no longer living in Iceland. It's almost as if our bodies believe it's colder than it actually is.
When we got back home, rejuvenated after hours in the Park, we made popcorn and watched The Fellowship of the Ring. Tomorrow the kids have a day off school so we're going to finish our Lord of the Rings marathon.
See that top photo to the left and the one to the right above the photo of the kids? We call these I-think-we-should-get-off-the-road photos. Only those who know the LOTR films by heart understand that one. For those who don't, Frodo speaks this sentence in the first film right before this happens.
Have a beautiful day everyone!

I love, love, love the LOTR movies (and books)! :-) My hubby gets so tired of me when I re watch them over and over, he´s not a fan like me (even though he liked them). :-D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics! :-)
Ah yes, the get-off-the-road scene. Lisa, I think it's high time I watched the LOTR films again. It's been a while. The park looks so beautiful. That looks like a perfect day. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love your outdoor pictures! The colours of the leaves at this time of year always amazes me. And I am so jealous of your Lord of the Rings marathon. Best. movies. ever!

Beautiful pictures. Love the sweater reference too. I was just talking to another Swedish expat the other day about the English not wearing the right shoes for the weather, which then planted a seed of doubt in our heads- you know, maybe it's us.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a beautiful day at the park. And, I'm always bundled up way more than others. I don't like to feel chilled at all.
ReplyDeleteLOTR - haven't watched that in a while. I may just have to do that. :)
@Carin: yes I think it's us ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem. I always think that it is colder than it is. But usually I realise it after about 10 min of walking when I have taken off all the extra layers I had on. I mean it is November, it must be freezing, but no... :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And I can't belive you guys have this amazing weather, here north we have dark and cold days. Good thing I don't mind, it just brings me in the Christmas spirit :)
ReplyDeleteHugs and a happy Thursday Lisa!

:) loved that LOTR moment comparison! Because you are so right! Love the movie too. We actually watched it a few weeks ago and will do again over Xmas. You do realise I'll think of you now every time we get to that hiding moment in the movie? ;)
ReplyDeleteI need to see LOTR, true story.
ReplyDeletep.s. the park looks awesome.
Oh there is nowhere I'd rather be! It looks so perfect and crisp. We're having some gorgeous weather right now too. The leaves have just about finished turning but the colors are still magnificent. Planning on spending some time in Central Park this weekend before I head on off to vacation :) xoox
ReplyDeleteThere is never too much clothes when it comes to autumn! Your body has to adapt to the new temperature, so better warm than cold!
ReplyDeleteI love LOTR, but who doesn't? Good idea for the the cold weekends to come!
Because I discovered your blog only a couples of months ago, I do not know the story of you coming to Belgium from Iceland :D, but I guess I'll find it ;)
Looks like a beautiful day in the park; the shots you captured are stunning! Love your LOTR moment too xx
