How are you doing?
In the cloudy Antwerp weather I've been enjoying a relaxing morning, drinking good coffee, reading and writing. Yesterday I bought magazines and new stationery so I've been writing on a few note cards while the film Julie & Julia (2009) is running in the player. The half of that film is one of my favourite films. Does that sentence make any sense? Let me explain. I love the Meryl Streep-Stanley Tucci scenes and I can watch them again and again, but usually I fast forward over the rest (sorry Amy Adams and Julie Powell).
We are going for a drive so I'm wishing you a wonderful day with some of my favourite links this week:
• Lana of LanaLou Style has been luring me to visit South Africa with her beautiful blog posts. She's always up to something fun, photographing wonderful cafés and boutiques and sharing with us. Here is the latest place: part 1 and part 2
• Georgianna Lane shared with us her beautiful work in her latest e-magazine issue called Paris: Les Fleurs
• Diana of Miss Moss posted some beautiful photos by Kajico
• Yesterday Helen of The Style Schedule included in her post Intelligent Life's (a bi-monthly from The Economist) cover photo of Cate Blanchett as she truly looks, not photoshopped as on the cover of my Harper's Bazaar UK issue. I had just bought that magazine when I saw Helen's post and the difference is incredible. It made me wonder why there is still this obsession with the perfect look on the cover of fashion magazines. Why not just show us these strong women as they really look instead of creating these unrealistic images? Here's to ageing gracefully with lines and wrinkles!

Your weekend sounds beautiful. I felt the same way about that movie! I don't know if it was because I adore Meryl Street and I don't really like Amy Adams or if the story lines/plots were just better with the Meryl-Stanley scenes...maybe a bit of both <3
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a wonderful and relaxing Saturday morning! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGo on enjoying your weekend!

haha I totally agree about Julie & Julia....some of Julie's scenes were just too melodramatic...esp. the one with the lobster - just make the damn lobster already, you don't have to have a meltdown about it! lol
ReplyDeletei feel exactly the same about that movie... Meryl is extraordinary! Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love that film :-) Sounds like you had a really nice Saturday. Enjoy your Sunday as well:-)
ReplyDeleteLisa, thanks for these links! I hope you are enjoying a wonderful w-e!
ReplyDeleteHere, here... to ageing gracefully with lines and wrinkles. She still looks cool, she still looks beautiful, she still looks modern... and oh so real and attainable for it! I'm sure we don't all want to look at 19year olds with puffy lips and 10inch waists on the covers of magazines all the time! Do we? I know what you mean - I could watch Stanley Tucci all day - I think he's fabulous in every role - and the combination of Meryl Street! Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely weekend; I was at lunch yesterday with some girlfriends and we were talking about the ageing / 40 yr old thing too... very interesting!
xx

I have watched that movie so many times. I hope I too can lure you to South Africa - it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAs usual, your weekend plans sound blissful! Off to check out Lana's links now, she always makes me miss home (but in a good way)!
ReplyDeleteI adore the film "Julie and Julia". Thanks for your suggestions. Xxx
ReplyDeleteHello!!
ReplyDeleteMy first comment on your beautiful blog after borrowing/re-pinning so many adorable pictures you've shared on pinterest!
Hehehe.... I ABSOLUTELY share your view about Julie/Julia. I adore the Meryl & Stanley parts - they were also fabulous together in The Devil wears Prada - so they're a couple that works perfectly! But I was bored about the Amy Adams parts so much and I often found myself in pressing the fast forward key.... :)
Happy Tuesday to you!
