colourful flat on the left bank

In today's post I'm taking you to the Left Bank of Paris, to take a look at a flat in this late 18th-century building above that belongs to designer Olivier Gagnère. His flat is colourful to say the least; he's unafraid to use bold colours and textiles. I have to admit that when I view the photos of the flat I get a little fireplace envy.

I love the white windows and wooden floors and I like the grey colour on the living room walls. I like it even better when I see the contrast of the black frames in the left photo below. The chair in the right photo is designed by Gagnère himself; upholstered in Donghia mohair velvet. On the floor is a kilim rug from Turkey. Notice the stripes on the bench - I told you, he's not afraid to use colours.

I find the hallway pretty interesting. It's painted in a colour called Bible Black by Farrow & Ball, and has a porcelain fireplace from the late 19th century. The pillows and throws on the chaise lounge are made from antique Pakistani fabrics, the stool is African and the console table is sheathed in leather and mussel shells.

In the bedroom there is a mantel from the late 19th century. The painting in the top photo is by Vincent Scali and the one hanging above the bed is by Marine Archang. The bed is upholstered in a Donghia fabric, dressed with antique suzanis.

My internet connection is teasing me just a bit so I'm posting this a little later than I had planned. It's nothing to be stressed about as we are enjoying a gorgeous and sunny day.

How was your weekend? I was busy helping the children to prepare for school that started today. We had to go shopping for school supplies, which I always enjoy. Then everything had to be marked with their names and organised so we were quite busy. There was also plenty of cooking, baking and reading going on.

Did you see the Vogue cover by my daughters that I posted on Saturday?
