verner panton chair for the children
I am sure most of you are familiar with the Verner Panton chair, which is one of those classic 20th-century design pieces. It's a Scandinavian design, what else. Verner Panton (1926-1998) was a Danish architect and designer, who worked for Arne Jacobsen
for a while, but founded his own studio in 1955.
Honestly, I have never been interested in decorating my home with a Verner Panton chair. However, I was browsing the Internet some time ago when I found the top-left photo of the children's room with the Panton Junior chairs in white and I was intrigued.
I don't know about you but my budget doesn't allow designer chairs in the children's rooms. I also don't think that children really care whether they are sitting in the real thing or not. I found a reproduction in red for my son to view because it's his favourite colour. He hasn't told me whether he wants one or not. Anyway, there I found the colourful photo to the right. I'm sure this is supposed to be a classroom and I love it!
Why wasn't my classroom so cool when I was in primary school?!!

If only my childhood classroom had been *this* colourful. Cripes, imagine my love for colour then!! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I agree that kids would like anything as long as it's pretty and, ideallly, bright, but wouldn't care for what it says on the back (designer label or not)
ReplyDeleteThose chairs are like candies - so much fun.

yes, i am familiar with these "S" chairs. it is one of the few mid-century chairs that have never appealed to me personally but i do love seeing them used in interiors and can appreciate their design as well. but i think you are correct, for kids, i would definitely get a set!
ReplyDeleteMy classroom was no where near as design oriented... although now you'd call it vintage! haha
ReplyDeleteLove these junior chairs! :)
I would have loved to have that classroom!!
ReplyDeleteI love them. I'd kill to have a few in white. for grown ups. but that may have to wait a little...
