charming spaces: desk & fireplace

Today's charming space isn't really about the space itself but the idea of having both a desk and a fireplace in the living room. At this point I wouldn't say no to that. The days are turning colder and even though burning candles and cups of tea do wonder, I miss our old wood burner.

Yesterday I found myself getting a little excited about Christmas; I even played two Christmas songs just for fun. I know very well what brought this on. I was arranging books in the living room (read: making space for the new ones I get at Christmas) and also preparing a Christmas giveaway on the blog, which will be revealed soon.

Luxembourg has the same Santa Claus ritual as Belgium. He arrives on the 6th of December and we decorate the Christmas tree before he comes to town so in only a few weeks our home will be ready for Christmas.

What about you, are you feeling the Christmas spirit?

  1. I 100% agree with you, Lisa. My desk is right by the window which I love but it does make it a bit crafty sometimes, so a fire in the room would be fab! Have a wonderful weekend! x

  2. First of all, I love that room, especially the painting above the fireplace. Such a beautiful statement.
I am trying not to think of Christmas yet - I feel it in the air, but want to resist until December... :)

Have a great day and wonderful weekend, Lisa!

  3. I feel the arrival of the winter and, even if I don't think about Christmas, I like spending more time indoor in cozy spaces. To be honest, I have just received the Smythson catalogue 'Perfect Presents 2012' with a beautiful red cover so it may be difficult to stop my (gifts) daydreaming! Lisa, I wish you a great w-e! 4. I don't know how you find all these beautiful spaces. :) I try not to get enthusiastic about Christmas just yet, because once I do there's nothing else I think about. :) And yes, I'm dreaming of a desk and fireplace in the living room.

  7. Yes I'm with you on having a desk + fireplace in the same room! I love the pieces of art in this home; they look so colourful yet very elegant mixed in the decor of this room. It's starting to feel a lot like Chrismtas here, although I do wonder if early November is a bit too soon to start the celebrations? I do love this time of year though xx

  8. In Hungary on the 6the of December Santa Claus is coming and brings us chocolate, candies, nuts in a little pacage, what he takes in our windows:-)
We decorate the christmas tree on the 24th of December, and on that evening Little Jesus brings us the gifts.

By the way: I love that living room!!!

  12. I like the idea of having both the desk and fireplace in the living room but that wouldn't work for me. I'd been too easily distracted!
