brighter shade than pale 06 - Christmas

Today is the day I finish all the Christmas preparation, that is, the things that I need to buy other than food. I'm a little relieved that the 24th is on Monday this year because often I find myself doing a bit of shopping the day before Christmas Eve. I don't really know why that is, it's as if I get the urge to get something, nothing big or expensive, usually it's just something small for the home, but it means that I'm out and about and I come home later than planned. Every year I say to myself that I'm not going to do it but then the day arrives and I'm out there in the traffic. The shops will be open on Sunday but as I never go shopping on Sundays it should be easy to avoid them this year.

How is your preparation going? We have pretty clear traditions and know exactly what we need, so there is no need to feel stressed. As our families are in Iceland we don't have to attend any parties. It's just the five of us at home enjoying wonderful food and relaxing.

  1. We are very similar here. :) It's just three of us, pupster included and everything will be very relaxing and quiet, which is just lovely as far as I am concerned. You know we also pop out for a bit of shopping, just for fun. Hopefully the weather won't be too horrible and we'll manage to have a walk through one of our favourite towns too.

  2. You've arranged the photos so beautifully. I also feel the way you do about shopping a little on Christmas Eve, especially if I have bought all the presents way in advance. We're looking forward to spending Christmas with my family, as we don't see them that often, so that's kind of a holiday tradition.

  5. i live in the same place i have grown up, so i have lots of places to go around the holidays - which is lovely but i also long for the quiet christmas at home, low key and cozy. i think next year i am going to make a plan to do just that!

  6. My schedule is upside down because of a last minute invitation for Saturday... I have taken today off to be able to do many things I was planning doing tomorrow and I think it is great, it will avoid lot of stress. I am nearly OK with all I need... couple of small things not really mandatory... I wish you a wonderful Xmas celebration.

  8. Our families are far away too, but our son will be home for Christmas this year!
I love a quiet at home day, cozy and peaceful. I only hope it is not too hot here in Sydney.
Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas and I hope it snows for you:)

  9. I love the mystery and moodiness of these images, Lisa. No less festive but a bit more intriguing.

I agree with you – setting foot in a shop on Christmas Eve is forbidden! D insists he doesn't mind but I do so today he did the final items and we exhaled and relaxed all evening by the fire. And yes with books and music and eggnog and lots of nice things to eat. It was such a treat!

Wishing you and your family a bright, beautiful, magical Christmas!! xoxo
