k&a: mashed sweet potatoes with pecan nuts

Earlier this morning I posted a recipe for mashed sweet potatoes with pecan nuts on kitchen & aroma that I hope you will enjoy. We got to experience the Canadian Thanksgiving in Winnipeg in October 2009 and that is where we tasted this side dish for the first time. It's so delicious and I wouldn't even think of serving turkey without it.

Speaking of recipes, it felt like Christmas again yesterday when the mail arrived. I got two packages that weren't delivered before the holidays and I now have two more recipe books. One contains hot chocolate recipes only and has been on my wish list for quite some time. The other is a new Icelandic one with raw desserts, which seriously makes me want to renew my food processor. I say this with the greatest respect for Jamie Oliver, but in Denmark I bought one from Tefal, which he had lent his name to, and it turned out to be no good for processing nuts. The blade is useless. I so enjoyed making vegan ice cream and all kinds of delicious raw treats but this food processor simply doesn't do the job.

A friend from the US is coming to visit so I am signing off early and will be back to blogging on Monday. Enjoy your weekend!

  7. Kenwood Triblade, I find, is great for grinding nuts (for instance, for my favourite aubergine roll recipe). It seems to be Heston's blender of choice, at least in his "Heston Blumenthal at Home".

  9. That looks like a delicious recipe, Lisa and the Hot Chocolate book sounds very intriguing to me too! We have a Vitamix blender that blends nuts extremely well - if you ever come across them, I highly recommend it! I hope you enjoyed your weekend with your friend! xxoo
